Dear Parishioners of the Windsor Heritage Catholic Family of Parishes,
I’m writing to you to let you know of some changes that will be taking place in our Family of Parishes over the next couple of months.
First, I want to let you know that the General Council of the Basilian Fathers has asked me to take an appointment to serve at St. Anne’s Parish in Houston, Texas, effective July 1. In my place, the General Council has appointed Fr. Timothy Scott, CSB to serve as the Pastor of the Windsor Heritage Catholic Family of Parishes, also effective July 1. Bishop Fabbro has confirmed this appointment, and it is being announced throughout the Diocese this week.
With the appointment of Fr. Timothy as Pastor, Deacon Paul Bezaire’s role as Administrator of Temporal affairs will also end on July 1. I want to thank Deacon Paul for serving our Family of Parishes in this capacity for the past three years. Among other things, he has been instrumental in ensuring financial accountability for the restoration project at Assumption, and for spearheading the revitalization efforts at St. Angela Merici. Thank you, Deacon Paul, for carrying out this important work!
This news, as I am sure you can imagine, is bittersweet. I feel incredibly blessed to have spent the last six years in Windsor, and to have had such a memorable first assignment as a Priest. For a young Priest to remain for this long at his first assignment is a luxury that many new Priests do not get!
While it is always difficult to say goodbye and move on, I am happy that this new appointment will allow me to be closer to family, and will give me the opportunity to reconnect with friends that I made when I lived in Houston for seminary. I trust that God’s hand is guiding our General Council in making this decision, and I look forward to what lies in store.
I also trust that our family of Parishes will be in good hands with Fr. Timothy. Fr. Timothy is a gifted administrator and a wonderful preacher, and I pray that you will welcome him as you have welcomed me over the past six years.
In the coming weeks, we will announce plans for a series of farewell celebrations, to be held at each Church and with each community. Keep an eye on the bulletin and website for more details. And please keep myself, Deacon Paul, and Fr. Timothy in your prayers during this time of transition.
