As we continue to grow as a Family of Parishes, we want to be fully transparent and keep you up to date as much as possible.
Our primary objectives at present are:
- To extend Youth and Family Pastoral Services to both St. Angela Merici and St. Alphonsus Parish. Until now, the Family of Parishes Staff has concentrated mostly on Assumption while preparing for a wider focus. During this time, the costs have been borne primarily by Assumption.
- Ensure that our priests receive the support necessary to allow them to undertake their ministry.
There are some changes to the parish team. As you may know Father Christian Amogu has been transferred to another assignment and Father Tony Del Ciancio is coming to take his place. Former pastor Father Maurice Restivo is returning to ministry as a part time Associate Pastor.
The pending changes provided the opportunity to take a look at how our Family of Parishes offices function and make some changes.
Father Maurice and Father Tony’s offices will be located at our Main Office, which is at the Assumption Rectory. This move brings them both under the same roof as Father Steven and will allow for better working synergies and collaboration.
This change doesn’t mean there will never be priests available at St. Angela or St. Alphonsus. All of our priests will be available to meet at whatever church building is most convenient for you. All you need to do is call the main office and schedule a meeting with them; (as has always been the case) and they will meet you where you wish.
Our Pastoral Minister Jean Beneteau and our Coordinator of Youth Ministry, Jessica Jarvis, will have their offices moved to St. Angela. This helps us achieve our goal of expanded ministry across the Family of Parishes. In addition, with the large parish hall and meeting rooms downstairs, this will allow for expanded programming, events, and sacramental classes.
We have also centralized all our Sacramental Records at the Main Office with Sally McQuaid, who is our Family Records Secretary. She is responsible for all Sacramental Records requests, and any inquiries can be directed to her.
These changes will take place into the first half of July.
Finally, we are in the process of accepting resumes for the position of Outreach Coordinator at St. Alphonsus. Once hired, this person will be located at St. Alphonsus Church full time and will provide full-time outreach to the parish and downtown core.
